About us

“Let’s meet up on Deák tér” is something you might hear from locals, tourists or friends alike when in Budapest. There is a cosy meeting place at this busy intersecion in the heart of the city where you can refresh yourself with a cup of coffee or tea and relax among books in an historic yet modern environment. You will find the Huszár Gál Bookshop and Insula Café opposite the metro exit, next to the Lutheran church and the Lutheran Central Museum. Try our snacks, sandwiches and drinks, browse our selection of souvenirs and books (in English and other languages, too). We offer more than books and delicacies though: join us for live music, quiz nights and book events.
